Founded in 2005, the Centre d’études européennes is one of the nine research centres of Sciences Po. Its scientific project rests on a multidisciplinary and transversal approach to policy and politics.

The Team

The Centre d’études européennes de Sciences Po brings together some sixty researchers, both senior (FNSP, CNRS) and junior (doctoral, post-doctoral and research assistants), as well as around twenty associate researchers from France and abroad, all of whom contribute to the dynamics of the research conducted within the Centre, to its visibility and its international standing. The Centre d’études européennes also regularly welcomes hosts highly renowned visiting scholars for periods from one month to one year.

Research

The research programmes conducted at the Centre d’études européennes within Sciences Po take a variety of forms. Certain projects are based within the laboratory itself, or are transversal to Sciences Po, while others are collaborative projects built on partnerships with teams from France, Europe or elsewhere. These research projects involve the organisation of a large number of scientific events. They also give rise to numerous publications.

Teaching

Researchers at the Centre d’études européennes de Sciences Po are closely involved in the teaching programmes at Sciences Po: undergraduate, professional Masters and PhDs. The Centre d’études européennes de Sciences Po is more specifically associated with the definition of teaching programmes and the management of the Masters of European Affairs and Urban Policy at Sciences Po, as well as PhD programmes in law and political science.

International

The international dimension is a central characteristic of the Centre. Most of the research projects adopt an international and/or comparative approach and the results of this research are frequently published in international peer-reviewed journals and translated in different languages. The Centre d’études européennes also works closely with research institutions worldwide and its researchers participate in multinational networks and are regularly invited to partner institutions. The Centre also contributes to the structuring of the European Research Area in social and human sciences, in particular by designing and managing various programmes financed by EU institutions.
